Friends of Metuchen Arts and the Westerhoff School of Music & Art are celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with a special concert featuring an all women composer program on Saturday, May 10, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Metuchen.
The first half of the program will feature a string quartet by the iconic classical composer, Florence Price performed by the Westerhoff School violin and viola faculty Cliff Bernzweig and Ana Diaz, who will be joined by guest artists. The second half of the program will be performed by the Westerhoff voice faculty featuring Lajuan Carter singing standards by such contemporary artists as Roberta Flack, Carole King, Nina Simone and more.
Founded in 1998, The Westerhoff School of Music & Art is well known for their excellent faculty who specialize in teaching instrumental music, vocal education and studio art for children and adults alike. “It is with great pleasure that the faculty and I join with the Friends of Metuchen Arts to offer this concert as gift to the community,” said David Iskowitz, School Director.
A reception with refreshments will follow the performance in St. Luke’s Nails In the Wall Gallery where their current exhibition of 40 plus works including painting, fiber art and printmaking will be on display.
St. Luke’s is located at 17 Oak Avenue in Metuchen. The concert is free but space is limited. You can reserve a space at: www.friendsofmetuchenarts.org.
